Kevin Y. Jong, M.D

Dr. Kevin Jong completed his medical degree and internship at Baylor College of Medicine after graduating Magna Cum Laude at the University of Texas at Austin, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. He completed an ophthalmology residency program at Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Jong was appointed chief resident at Tulane and mentored 20 residents at five hospitals. After graduating, Dr. Jong spent over 4 years in the valley area examining and treating underprivileged Hispanic patients.

His honors include CLAO Young Investigators Award, President’s Scholar, and Welch Foundation scholarship for studies on laser ablation of human tissue, which included early investigation of the effects of the laser on the human cornea as in current LASIK procedures.

Dr. Jong is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS). Dr. Jong is a member of the Texas Ophthalmological Association and Texas Medical Association.

Dr. Jong served as the chairman for the Department of Ophthalmology and Optometry for MacGregor Medical Clinics where he coordinated all eye and vision care within their clinics, including supervising six optometrists and four optical shops.

Dr. Jong grew up in southwest Houston and attended Jane Long middle school and Sharpstown senior high school. Dr. Jong currently lives in Bellaire and is happily married with three children. When Dr. Jong is not playing with his children, he enjoys fishing and playing golf and tennis.
